Welcome to Tupendane House.

Earlier this year, the delivery of our hardwood furniture transcended into conversation about the rectification of an apartment riddled with poor workmanship and failing amenities. We took this project head on and carefully designed and executed brand new services, interior finishes and joinery elements.

Starting with the stunning new kitchen, the design focuses on achieving the perfect blend of form and function. This kitchen was attentively designed to optimize the space available while maintaining maximum possible functionality without compromising on the overall aesthetic appeal. The general theme for the apartment was very Swahili-Coastal and because of that, we opted to go with solid Malindi White Oak timber which not only lends a warm, inviting ambiance to the kitchen but also showcases the natural grain patterns and exquisite texture of the coastal wood.

We believe in preserving the natural beauty of wood while enhancing its durability. The application of our signature natural waxes not only protects the timber but also enhances its innate warmth and character. This finish accentuates the wood's unique grain, providing a smooth, tactile surface that is both luxurious and practical. The countertops and backsplash from Silestone® are not only absolutely gorgeous and durable, they are also sanitary which makes it the perfect fit for this stunning kitchen.

Paired with high-end kitchen appliances from Beko™ and just the right amount of ambient indirect lighting, this kitchen is the embodiment of sophistication, craftsmanship, and modern convenience. It's not just a kitchen; it's a statement of refined taste and a space where cherished memories are created.
Next up, the joinery.

The internal doors of the apartment were a very important piece of the overall intended aesthetic. Our very skilled joiners and carvers got to work to make these exquisite hand-carved Swahili doors. A perfect blend of artistry and functionality, these Swahili doors with their intricate carvings add a touch of sophistication and cultural richness to any space.

A light wooden floor in the form of BOEN® engineered wooden planks were the best fit for the main parts of the apartment. This flooring solution combines the warmth of a solid wooden layer with modern engineering techniques for a very durable option.

Mimicking the choice of timber for the kitchen cabinetry, majority of the remaining custom-made joinery elements for the apartment were made from solid Malindi White Oak timber which boasts gorgeous natural grain patterns and an exquisite texture to the touch.

Blending beautifully with all the gorgeous joinery was the new self-cleansing textured finish from Spiver® that was applied to the walls to give it a durable but also very rustic coastal atmosphere.
Lastly, the personal quarters.

The master bedroom is adorned with a custom-made, foam-ribbed headboard, upholstered in a luxurious mustard yellow velveteen fabric and paired with cantilevered nightstands with integrated sockets and switches. The ultimate combination of comfort and function all from the comfort of the bed. Accompanying the new headboard is a bespoke footstool, made from solid Mvule timber and upholstered in the stunning Boucle fabric.

The two bathrooms and the cloakroom are all furnished with solid Mvule timber cantilevered bathroom vanities and finished in our signature natural oils and waxes to bring some warmth to the spaces. All three bathrooms boast a set of luxurious brass-finish bathroom fittings from Kohler® starting from the sink mixer all the way to the robe hooks. The indirect lighting is enhanced to a pleasing 3000K temperature with a slightly brighter lumen output. A hand-carved mirror frame with gorgeous flowing patterns hung above the master bathroom vanities, together with an intricately carved water heater cabinet made from solid Mvule timber above the tub, gives this bathroom an exquisite, modern Swahili feel.

An overall exciting outcome to a very exciting project!
