Welcome to Mr Yao.
A premium fine dining Chinese restaurant where classic comfort dishes are given a contemporary European flair.
Almost every part of joinery and specialised furniture was worked on by our team and we thoroughly enjoyed it - testimony to
the precision and finesse that our work is known for. Let's start with the ornate entrance. As you leave the lift lobby, the
oriental style door welcomes you to the restaurant. The door glows with the ambient lighting inside through the Chinese themed
silhouettes and translucent handmade fibre sheets. Custom black ironmongery completes the look of this focal joinery piece.
Once inside, you're first greeted by these beautiful oriental archways that frame one another the further away they are. Each archway
is used as a screen to divide the restaurant space and comprised of stained wooden frames with C.N.C. cut oriental patterns and painted
black textured powder coating to give them a durable finish.
The main bar is another focal space that you see once you enter the restuarant. Simple joinery lines and clear glass with downlighing for
the back bar maintains a very moody atmosphere, appropriate for the main bar.
Between two of the oriental archways is a massive shelving display with integrated downlighting to wash various sculptures and artefacts.
Right opposite that is one of the semi-private dining areas whose divider screens are made up of hand-carved wooden frames with powdercoated
orinetal C.N.C. cut insert panels.
These beautiful half-round banquettes upholstered in a Jade green fabric adorn the hallway to the more private side of the
restaurant. To complete the look, the oriental lattice coupled with the beautiful wallpaper from
Design for Living
and ambient lighting bring to life the interior designer's spectacular vision.
Just before climbing up to the private dining rooms, patrons are welcomed to a seating area that is adorned by this modern,
oriental inspired lattice.
A combination of precision hand-crafting and accurate installation ensures that the 'lines' are absolute. To complete the look;
back-lit handmade fibre sheets glow to showcase that space in just the right ambience for the perfect dining experience.
The Statement Piece.
Aptly named "The Great Wall", the private dining room is adorned by our magnificent round dining table. With a top diameter of
3.75 metres, this piece took months of precision work at our studio and careful planning to move and assemble on the terrace floor
of the building.
Be marvelled by the sheer size of this table as you enjoy a private dinner party at "The Great Wall".
