It’s important to acknowledge the people whose constant belief in our work continues
to give us the liberty to display the distinct prowess in our creative craft, an

Meet Naresh Jethwa.
Any fundi-type who is running an enterprise that requires tooling and equipment
has surely heard of the age-old Machinery Tools Ltd. In a world that is swiftly
turning to automation, the 50 year-old Machinery Tools is still catering for your
dexterous craftsmen – call it the ‘toy-shop’. If you’ve been, you’ll be familiar
with the new items on the displays and catching a glimpse of shelving racks filled
with tooling that was hand-produced in the 70’s and the ever so helpful staff
who have developed deep-rooted relationships with clients from all over the country.
It is here that you meet the calm and erudite Naresh. For those of you who don’t
know him, ask for the charming man with the pierced eye-brow. Just like most
other Nairobi workshops, Dumont’s humble beginnings started from this very shop
with a lot of the solid hand-tools and support equipment acquired under Naresh’s
expertise.
All those years later, he still keenly attends to our everyday tooling needs
and follows our progress. We were particularly thrilled to have him as an
addition to our ever-growing list of ‘collectors’. Naresh is the proud owner
of the Jethwa residence, an apartment project whose interiors we were entrusted
with designing, building and furnishing.
Let's start the tour.
This gigantic 3 metre by 2 metre black mirror sits proud on the bespoke tapered
unit at the entrance of this apartment with the colourful, hand-woven Afghan
runner completing the space.
It was very important to have absolute control over the lighting to enable an
array of moods with individual command over the direct and indirect lights.
Dimmer switches allow play with intensities to set just the right ambience.
Furniture from our collection to complete the heart of the home. The epicentre
is our signature square coffee table, surrounded by our entertainment console,
armchairs, side tables and sofas. Sheer curtains on the focal window chosen from
Design for Living.
The room is touched by light during the day and by night, the window is a gorgeous
vista of the Nairobi night sky.
The dining space comprises of our palm wood sideboard with sliding doors sitting
adjacent to our popular Mvule dining table and upholstered chairs.
